After more thought on the matter, a new section for words of wisdom has been made and this has been moved here as I find it to be more appropriate than simply sitting in the discussion area.

This was originally posted by ^Kakashi^Sensei on the RA forums. I then reposted it on the AX forums, and now I'm reposting it here, because I still feel it's worth sharing.
The title is the original title that Kakashi put on the topic.
"All right folks, it's high time people be informed on the names of specific attacks and techniques. I find it amusing when the words poke noob comes flinging out of people's mouths after you beat them in a duel. Or how about the guy who yaws and calls it a 360 wiggle. Oh yes and the great deflect/parry and defense whore. I've heard some other amusing ones. "Spin is different than Yaw. Spin is for speed and yaw is for damage." (Consequently faster hits don't do damage?! Oh Rly?) "That's a 360 wiggle, not a spin." (Wiggle moves side to side. Consequently the physics of the game suddenly allow you to move 360 degrees and wiggle at the same time without spinning. Key word being 360.) So since so many have decided to pass on their knowledge, please allow me to assist and help you to not to look and sound like a dipstick and that's putting it politely:) This informative post is not meant for those who already know or really actually don't know the techniques used in the game, but rather for all of those who assume they know just what the hell they're talking about when they're insulting or complaining to other players.
Timing and Aim
These are the key elements that make a good player or a bad player. The best JKA players can use one shitty move over and over to defeat nearly everyone they meet just by their excellent timing and aim. Nobody finds that fun though, that's why people try to use all sorts of different swings. Whatever liar you're full of shit? Feel free to ask testimonies of those who've experienced dueling against the "noob rush" with duals:P Timing is how well you time your swing usually in conjunction with your footwork. Aim is how accurate your swing is.
Omgzers wtf is a poke then?
Poke is anything that you do to make your saber stay in any particular spot for an extended period of time. This involves rotation of your mouse, footwork, delays, stagger, and jumping techniques. Pretty much in order not to poke you'd have to run in a straight line with your swing and not move your mouse at all. For those of you who think you don't poke, you'd literally have to swing and run in a straight line in without moving your mouse at all. (Good luck hitting moving targets.) Everyone pokes whether they know it or not. Some are just better at it than others. Why the fuck is poke important? Because it changes the timing of the point of impact with your saber. What the fuck does this mean? It allows you to have a wider range for precise hits and it changes the timing of a swing making it harder to read or dodge. Why the hell does it do so much damage? The physics of the game with lightsabers is that the longer they stay in a specific target, the more damage it does.
So Kakashi who invented poke?
Everyone has been inadvertently poking since forever. Even the newest players do it. It's a natural movement you do to try to correct your aim, many pros like to do it after the saber has already reached their chosen point of impact. Someone however was responsible for giving it a name. But I heard bla bla bla invented poke!? Bullshit, that's like saying someone invented masturbation. People have been doing this since at least quake 3 by strafing and firing at a moving target or when you run out of ammo and have to result to using your fist against that fast little alien creature that's eating you alive. Someone gave it a name one day, and that name stuck. Simple as that.
Wiggle
How in the hell is this not self explanatory? This is any movement involving the shaking of the mouse whether it's side to side, up and down, horizontally, and any other way you can think of where it involves rapid and repetitive movements that cause your saber to look as if it's vibrating back and forth or up and down. Why do people wiggle? This move spreads the point of impact giving a wider range for the impact of the swing. If you don't get it, take a long thin stick and whip it back and forth and stare at it until you stop feeling like a dipshit. 360 wiggle....need I say more? I guess if you played at an extremely high sensitivity this would be somewhat possible. But once again, 360 is a full circle, how can you move 360 degrees and not spin? Well consequently physics is a bunch of bullshit thought up by dumb people.
Spin and Yaw
They're the same fucking thing. It's a swing that involves your saber moving 360 degrees or more in a fast motion. What the fuck do you mean in a fast motion? Well try using spin in a slow motion and guess what! It becomes a poke instead:P Oh Rly? Yah Rly! This is generally used by people who can't aim properly. What spin does is it allows you to nearly completely ignore aim, as long as you are in range. Why? Because the fast spinning motion strikes repeatedly in a full 360 degrees. WTF how? Okay take something like a rock and tie it to a string and swing it around your head in a circle and stare at it until you stop feeling stupid. Spin is generally done with a quick jerk of the mouse, and yaw is usually done with a keybind for more rotations. However, you can still get nearly as many rotations with a mouse as a keybind if your sensitivity is high enough. Spin and Yaw do the same damn thing. When someone tells you one is for speed and the other is for damage and you buy it, make sure to test that theory. Grab a bat and a friend and have them swing real fast into your face. Then afterwards decide for yourself if speed and damage don't coincide when swinging a weapon. It's generally looked down upon by many players as it can be used to compensate for bad aim. There are however, skilled players who are able to use it defensively.(Test the faster hits don't do damage theory. Have your buddy swing the bat real fast into your face, and if you can get up and say wow! Faster hits don't do shit for damage! I'll give you at least 3 cookies.)
WTF, how come when that guy hits me it does so much damage?
Believe it or not your saber plays a big role in how much damage you take. If someone swings at you and your saber is in between the impact of their saber and your body. Your saber actually absorbs some of the damage and may even deflect their attack. If any of you out there aren't convinced, then stand still and have your saber out. Have someone take their medium and do a few swings on you. Then put your saber away and have them take a few swings. When you strike a target in an open area without their saber to protect them, this is commonly referred to as a clean hit. Clean hits do heavy damage, and people use all sorts of different combinations of the techniques explained above in order to attain them.
Deflect/Parry
Deflect is pretty much self explanatory. Deflects can happen randomly or against a very skilled player with excellent timing they can be forced. Deflect/Parry is much easier to manipulate in 1.01 but 1.00 they become more unpredictable as the sabers have a minor glitch problem in 1.00. That's why YOU CAN ONLY SABER-GUN IN 1.00! Controlling a deflect and turning it into a counter move is quite a difficult task. Oh Rly? Yah Rly! The next time you duel someone, you try to force a deflect and see how easy you can turn it to your advantage.
Everything I've mentioned above are things used by many players. People claim to have invented the moves above, but I think it's bullshit. Everything stated above are things people do inadvertently and with no knowledge. Someone just came up with a name for it, and decided to try to make their mark in the world. Hey everyone deserves their 15 minutes of fame, so do whatever makes you feel good. I will admit though, that some are way better at those techniques than others. But hey, it's a game, there's going to be good people and there's going to be bad. Blah blah blah, you're just manipulating a bug in the game. Well, survival of the fittest. Grass is generally consumed by cows, but if it was the only thing left on earth to eat. Well then, would you starve or would you consume what's there? Also the techniques stated above are doable and the skill to use them are also obtainable by everyone. There's no special codes to punch in, in order to do them only effort and perseverance.
Take this information and do with it what you will. Insult others or use it as a guide to pinpoint techniques used by people. Ignore it for all I care. Now you can do all of that without sounding like you don't know shit about what you're trying to get across. The techniques listed above just happen to be the most common. I didn't bother to list everything but rather what seems to be the most commonl topics."
