New to JKA and this Database? Old and looking for new information or refreshers? Looking for something specific dealing the the games mechanics? Studying for trials? This is just a suggested reading list (in a preferred order) if you want to do a bit of outside-the-game learning.
For very new people, I advise starting with these
-Basic Binds & Starter Tips
-Basic Swings & Combinations
-Katas
-(For 1.00 players) 1.00 Sabergun Effect
-(For an overview) Saber Traits
For those who have finished reading that area (or have been here a bit longer and know that information) I suggest going here
-Strafing Concepts (Come back to the jump poking section after you have read The Poking Concept!)
-Types of Delays
-The Poking Concept
-The Wiggling Concepts
-(For staff/dual players) Basics & Advanced: Duals and Staff
More advanced players will want to look under these areas
-The Theory of Blocking
-Low Jumping
If you're just interested in learning core game mechanics, these sections are important reads for everyone
-Strafing Concepts
-The Poking Concept
-The Theory of Blocking
Anything outside of what is listed here are still suggested reads, but not necessarily critical for learning. This guide is to direct students to essential learning materials. More things will likely be added to this listing as more is added to the database. Please remember that the database is a massive reference list that is constantly under construction as new things are continuously being learned about the game even 13+ years later.
